We visited Polar Park in Worcester for the first time for some Friday night baseball. Parking was a bit confusing, but getting in and out of the stadium was easy. We hung out in the team store prior to the gates opening which made for quick entry since they scan your tickets in advance.
We got tickets for front row on the third base side of home plate (Section 6) but moved around throughout the game. Eli talked to both managers pre-game, and he got some food before first pitch. Our tickets also gave us access to the DTC Club, which we took advantage of for seating for a couple of innings – even though it seemed afterwards those were separately tickets seats.
It was fun to see a lot of the guys from the Sea Dogs last year – including Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, Corey Rosier, Alex Binelas and Nathan Hickey – from who I remember. There’s no doubt that Anthony and Mayer will get called up sooner rather than later. We also got to see former first-rounder and MLB All-Star Yasmani Grandal.
The kids area past center field is a nice feature, and Eli enjoyed playing for a bit and getting a slushie. We watched for an inning from the outfield berm for a unique view – next time I might get general admission tickets and grab the Adirondack chairs there. We didn’t purchase tickets in advance so GA was sold out when we got there. Eli also tried the pitching challenge and capped out at 26 mph.
We stayed for the fireworks after the game, checked out the team store again and headed home. Overall, very fun ballpark and one that we’ll definitely check out again.
