UConn @ Boston College

“It was one of those games where the scoreboard needed a breather.”

We continued on for game 2 of Eli’s spring break trip, heading to Boston College for a game against UConn on a Tuesday afternoon. Before getting into Boston we stopped at Top Golf in Canton which was a blast for Eli. We stayed overnight nearby BC, so we checked into the hotel and then headed to the field.

I was impressed with the ballpark – it was in a nice complex with their softball field next door, and easy to get to with ample parking. It was a beautiful start to the day, sunny and almost 70. Eli had fun chasing foul balls in right field, and loved rolling down the small hill there. We were hoping BC was using balls with the “BC” logo on them, but no luck.

In 4th inning a storm came through and heavy rain started and lasted until the 6th inning. Most people headed for cover under the press box overhang, including us, with Eli playing in the rain on and off. There was no pause to the game, a benefit of having a turf field, and those who stuck around continued watching from cover.

There was lots of offense from the start of the game, with UConn winning 21-9 by run-rule in 7 innings – a season high for runs scored. Today’s win also makes for a season high 5-game win streak.

Eli was able to get UConn’s dugout card from head coach Jim Penders who was extremely nice. BC head coach Todd Interdonato offered Eli a blank dugout card as he saves all his from games – another nice gesture. As we were about to leave the stands, a BC player handed Eli a ball, and to our surprise, it had the BC logo on it which was great.

Overall great trip and a ballpark we will certainly be back to at some point.
